Understanding open licenses and how to use CC-licensed work correctly.

Creative Commons (CC) licenses allow creators to share their work with specific permissions attached.

Common Licenses

  • CC BY (Attribution): Use however you want, just give credit.
  • CC BY-SA (ShareAlike): Give credit and license your new work under the same terms.
  • CC BY-NC (NonCommercial): Give credit, but don't make money from it.
  • CC BY-ND (NoDerivatives): Give credit, but share only exact copies (no remixing).

Finding CC Works

  • Creative Commons Search
  • Google Images: Tools -> Usage Rights -> Creative Commons licenses.
  • Flickr: Filter by license.
